Billy Mills

Billy Mills has a great story to tell your participants. His compelling telling of how he employed his philosophy of self-empowerment and the pursuit of excellence to become the only American to ever win the Gold Medal in the Olympic’s 10,000 Meter event (1964). A true American hero, Billy Mills’ value based concept on how dreams come true inspires and motivates your conference attendees to reach within the depths of their capabilities and perform to their greatest potential. Mills grew up on an Oglala Sioux Indian reservation and was orphaned at the age of 12. He first became involved with distance running while attending the Haskell Institute, an Indian school in the city of Lawrence, Kansas. He had taken up running as part of a rigorous training program to become a boxer. However, he abandoned boxing in favor of running. His talent and hard work made him a natural at several distance events. Upon graduation from the University of Kansas Billy became a Lieutenant in the Marine Corp and while serving his country he entered the 1964 Olympics. He proceeded to shock the world by taking the Gold medal in 10,000 meter event - the first and only American to ever do so. The 1980’s film “Running Brave” is based on Billy’s accomplishments. Mr. Mills’ status as a true American hero and his finely shaped presentation skills assure you of a successful event.
